Sunny Day

Chess and I love to sit in the sun shining through the glass door. It has been cold lately! These are pictures I took on the same day as the video of Chess playing with her shadow.

Aquatic Center

We were missing the pool, so we took a January swim inside the Bethesda Aquatic Center. It was a lot of fun. Chess was a little nervous at first (as you can see in the first picture), but she warmed up to the water pretty quickly.

Note: She is wearing a size 2T bathing suit!

How Chess Gets Around

Chess is still not crawling, but she is getting around just fine. This is her latest form of transportation.

Chess found her shadow.

Our Cute Girl

Here are some random pictures that I've been wanting to share. There are quite a few, so brace yourself.

Chess, in one of her many Christmas dresses - this one was given to me by one of my students last year. I had such sweet kids!

Chess loves her learning puppy from Nan-Naw and Paw-Paw!

She was so bright and happy when we got home from church this day, which is weird because she is usually crying for a nap by then.

She loves standing with our help now. Whenever we're sitting near her, she reaches for our hands to pull up on.

When I took her dress off, I thought she looked like a little ballerina or gymnast.

I love this face she makes. It means she's waiting for you to do something funny.

I was trying to get a good picture with Chess, but she kept making this face whenever she would see the light flash on the automatic timer. I have about 10 pictures with her making this face.

Here she's standing with Daddy and her baby in one of the dresses I made her.

The sun was shining through the glass door so perfectly that I had to run up and get the camera.

She is enjoying the messy biter biscuit.

Look at those pudgy feet.

my favorite

You can't see it that well, but she kept propping her little foot up on the toy or on her chair. She likes to relax and be comfortable like her momma.

Can you see by her cheeks how big she's smiling?

This morning we were looking out the window.

Mom's Birthday

A few weeks ago was my mom's birthday, and I thought I'd share some pictures from the evening.

Chess has the best face in this picture. She looks so shocked that we're playing with fire.

I made the delicious chocolate birthday cake from scratch, thank-you-very-much.

Mimi and her granddaughters blowing out the candles

The girls had baths and we tried to get some pictures of them in their pajamas:

Stuff I Made

I've been trying to sew and make neat things lately. Here they are:

Hats

first one I tried - very simple and cute

second one got fancy with a stripe

I tried a different pattern the 3rd time and made it too small for my wee one's head.

Sleep Sacks

This one is made from a blanket - very easy and keeps her warm without me worrying about pulling it over her face.

This one was also a blanket first.

I made this one out of left-over fleece from her Halloween costume.

Clothing

This dress was her favorite Christmas present :)

I made this dress out of a big shirt I got at the thrift store for $0.25! I haven't tried it on her yet, so I hope it fits.

Then I made these pants with the sleeves of the same shirt.

I made this sweatshirt out of one that was mine, but too small for me. I loved it because I didn't have to sew any hems!

Miscellaneous

I got brave by making some booties. I found a tutorial online. They are kinda crooked, and Chess prefers to eat them rather than wear them.

I love my Christmas bow.

Chess's big car seat didn't come with neck protector things, so I made some.

And finally, a purse I made for a little girl's birthday gift.

More projects are in the works, so I hope y'all don't mind seeing them!
