Lots of Thanksgiving Pictures

Baking

Chess helped me make a pumpkin cheesescake.

Lera helped, too.

Look at her on tip-toes.

The cake passed the test.
I also made some homemade rolls for the first time that were pretty good.

It was SO cold!

Hope your Thanksgiving was happy and delicious!

Baby Werwa

"Werwa" is how Chess says Lera.

Jared really dislikes the headbands (and I'm not a huge fan myself), so it came off right after these pictures.

"Wanna See Baby"

Chess is such a sweet big sister. The other morning Jared was watching Chess, and I had Lera in the bed with me trying to get a little more much-needed sleep. The next thing I knew I felt a little person climbing on the bed and heard a little voice saying, "Wanna see baby." Jared said he couldn't keep her away any longer - she wanted to come see us.

By the way, this is the first three-word phrase I've heard her say. She's been using lots of two-word phrases for awhile now. This little girl just turned 19 months old and she's talking all the time, saying tons of words, and copying everything we say. She is such a smart little thing! I know I am an excited, proud mom, but she can even identify almost all of the upper-case letters in the alphabet, only getting a few mixed up that look alike!

Anyway, back to being a cute big sister. She asked to hold Lera for the first time recently. This is how that event unfolded:

I was using my hand to hold up Lera.

Here is Chess trying to move my hand away.

I replaced my hand with a pillow.

She's much happier.

Now, whenever she wants to hold Lera, shes gets one of these pillows, runs over to sit on this couch, and says, "Help, pease. Baby."

Sweet sisters.

Fall

Walk in the Woods

The walk was almost a mile, so we brought Chess's backpack carrier, but she only needed it to go up a few hills. It was funny because she went a little ways up a big hill, then turned around and only wanted to run down.

Trip to Vogel

Unfortunately, we missed the really pretty leaves by a few weeks.

Chess was not as cooperative at taking pictures as she was last year.

I am LOVING this gorgeous, mid-60s, sunny, fall weather. I hope it lasts.

Home Photo Shoot

These were taken at 9 days old. The resolution is actually much better than what is shown (as are all my pictures), but our internet connection is too slow to upload them much bigger. I am not the best photographer, but I think these turned out okay.
*Nan-Naw: you do not need to print any of these out; I will make you some copies. :)
