What happened?!

So, I was getting ready to feed Lera lunch. She was all strapped into the highchair, bib on, food heated and ready. I put the food in a ceramic bowl since my mom told me not to heat up plastic dishes in the microwave b/c it gives you cancer. I started to feed Lera, then Chess needed me for something. No big surprise there. So I set the bowl on the table and went to help Chess. Suddenly, I heard a loud, crashing sound. Lera had used her lightening-fast speed and aim to grab the bowl off the corner of the table and toss it to the floor, shattering it and splashing carrots and beef all over. Yum. Look how innocent she looks in the picture above. The saddest part is that it was dinner time and Jared was going to be late, and I had to clean up the whole mess by myself while both kids and myself were very hungry (whine, whine). The funniest part is that Chess kept saying, "What happened?!" over and over again from the time she heard the noise until it was all cleaned up, no matter how many times I told her exactly what happened. And luckily, as I was getting the camera to take a picture of the mess, I didn't realize it was on the video setting, so I got a one-second video where you can perfectly hear Chess's very-concerned voice asking, "What happened!?"

Strawberries

We had a great time picking strawberries early this month at Washington Farms. It was the first time any of us have done it. The berries were so juicy and ripe. Chess wasn't that fond of picking, but she gladly ate the berries we put in the basket, leaves, dirt, and all. I'm pretty sure she ate over 50 strawberries that day. Jared made some wonderful freezer jam, which we have been enjoying. Yum. We will definitely do it again next year.

Renaissance Festival

Andrea and Mikel were kind enough to invite us along to the Georgia Renaissance Festival this year. They go every year, but it was the first time for the four of us. We went on Memorial Day and had a great time and great weather - overcast, but no rain. The little ones got pretty fussy after a couple of hours, but we really enjoyed it. Thanks, Dea and Mikel!

Chess likes to walk sometimes, so the stroller was convenient for her, except on the gravel parts. Lera now fits in the big back pack, and she also took a nap in there.

This is how Chess fed the goats. She stood two feet away, threw the feed, then ran away. They were crazy goats.

Scooter

I haven't posted a video for the grandparents in awhile. Since my upload speed is so slow, I had to chose a short one.

Chess came up with a very creative and safe way to ride the scooter that was given to us. She gets a little mad when the momentum from the slightly slanted drive-way stops, but other than that she has a great time doing this.

What's that you say? The video doesn't have much of a climax? It just sort of "ends"? Well, that's the best I can do with under 25 seconds to work with. :)

7 Months Old

Lera is getting closer to crawling everyday. Chess didn't crawl till about 10 months old, so this is all new for me. She gets up on her knees all the time and rocks back and forth. She moves herself forward a little and then backwards a lot. She doesn't get frustrated, though. She loves practicing. These next pictures show some of her new skills.
