Blueberry Picking

Last year we picked strawberries.  This year we thought we'd try out the blueberries.

We found a local, organic u-pick blueberry farm not too far away from our house.  They had some pet goats we could feed.

Lera loved carrying around her bucket, although she didn't really get any blueberries in it.

Chess was an expert picker, though.  She learned very quickly to pick the dark blue blueberries, not the green, pink, white, or purplish berries.

Lera does have berries here, but it is because we unloaded some of ours.

Some of Chess's pick.

Me and my girls.

It was a beautiful blueberry-pickin' evening!

Fourth of July

Our July 4th tradition includes walking to the park from our house with whatever family wants to join us.  We set up our area for the adults to talk and the kids to play in the middle.  We enjoy and evening of dancing (the kids), games, eating, and fireworks.

Look at my little girl - she is so adorable.

I love this picture, too.  Bailey blowing bubbles for the girls, Chess trying to pop them, and Lera just admiring.

My love.

Nothing like a spoonful of peanut butter.

Bailey and Halle are so fun to play with!

The Thompson family, getting ready for some fireworks.

I hope everyone else had a fun and safe Independence Day, as well!

Mayfield Dairy 2011

Milking the cow was a hit with Chess.  Lera was really scared of it, though.  I think she thought it was real.

Love this face.  That is true concentration.

Enjoying some strawberry ice cream.

Bubba

Bubba was the name of our tadpole/froglet.

It was fun to watch him grow.

He's a cute little guy, isn't he?

On our way to release him, Chess was kissing him through the cup.

This is the little pond where we found him as a tadpole.

We hope he grows up to be a big, strong frog.  Bye-bye, Bubba!
