Utah Road Trip, Part Five: Grand Canyon and Meteor Crater

We arrived at Grand Canyon in the evening.  We drove through the park to get to our hotel, so we stopped to have a quick look.  Poor Chess wasn't feeling very good - she had an earache, but thankfully felt better the next morning.

Grandma got us a discount at a nice hotel right by the Grand Canyon.

We saw some elk eating the grass on the hotel lawn!

Seeing the canyon the next morning.

Next, we drove a couple of hours to the Meteor Crater.

It was extremely windy!

This is the best preserved meteor crater on earth.

This is a view from the building, with a cut-out brick window.  Looks like a painting, doesn't it?

Utah Road Trip, Part Four: Tropic (2)

We have a few outlaws in our family.  I love Chess's face in her picture.

An overlook of Bryce Canyon.

The neighbors have sheep that walk up and down the lane, with bells around their necks ringing.  The girls had a good time feeding and petting them.

Trampoline and more ATV fun.

Classic playground equipment is hard to find now.

The town got a new little splash pad this year.

Visiting Bryce Canyon with Grandma and Grandpa.  It was so beautiful!  The colors are amazing.

Fire pit and marshmallows on our last night in Tropic.

Going on a little hike to see a little waterfall.

Lera's arms are full of rocks.  They came all the way from Utah to Georgia with us!

Utah Road Trip, Part Three: Tropic (1)

Here we are on Grandma and Grandpa's road - 550 North in Tropic.

Their gorgeous back yard.

Chess's favorite part of the trip - driving the ATV.  She actually got pretty good at steering and driving herself.

Lera was a crazy driver!

Grandma and Grandpa.  So glad we got to spend some time with them.

Grandpa built this house.  They bought it when it was just a frame!

Riding in the back of the truck.

Beautiful views everywhere.

A morning ride.

Visiting Grandma at work at Ruby's Inn.  We swam in the pool and hot tub.  The hot tub had so much chlorine that it discolored mine and Chess's bathing suits!  Her purple one is now pink.

The girls were so tired from swimming that they almost fell asleep at the dinner table waiting for our pizza to come out!

But they got woken up enough later on to go to the rodeo!

They got to sit on Rose, and after the show, they got to ride her.

Bucking Broncos and the Wild West.

Grandma knew this girl, Taylor, and she let the girls ride her horse, Rose.  It was awesome.
